African / Exotic: Shoulder and Wall Pedestal Mounts
African work presents its own set of challenges. Many species from this continent are thin haired, revealing flaws and scars in the underlying dermis. Some skins suffer bug damage or hair slippage before being shipped. Consequently, a great deal of finish work and repairs are necessary on many mounts, but it is all very worth it for these strikingly beautiful animals with their vibrant colors and unique horn configurations.
Along with the samples of African work in this gallery, I have included a photo of a fallow deer, as well as a closeup up an Ibex that also appears in my life size mammals page. These two species are considered exotics, the fallow deer from New Zealand, and the Ibex from Mongolia.
